We delineated three possible complex distributary conditions followed by individual application of Strahler’s and Shreve’s rationales for stream classifications with concurrent verification in real river situations. We suggest rules that compliment both Strahler’s and Shreve’s methods of stream numbering and their extent consideration to reduce this subjective uncertainty. In hydrological studies complex drainage structures in river systems are open to ambiguous subjectivity when conventional classification systems are followed. The predator exerts a top-down effect on the resource, not the consumer subpopulations, and changes in the resource carrying capacity causes changes in the consumer subpopulations, but not the populations of the predators or the resources themselves.

The occurrence of two stably coexisting phenotype populations changes the nature of the bottom-up and top-down effects in the chain. As a result, it is feasible for two distinct phenotype subpopulations of the consumer to exist between resources and predators in a tritrophic chain. In the case of two phenotype subpopulations within a single consumer species, however, switching between the two subpopulations can occur, which is stabilizing. An important result of prior studies on diamond-shaped webs is that conditions for equilibrium coexistence of two competing consumer species can be found, but the transient oscillations would make it likely for one competing species to become extinct. The topology of such a web is similar to that of the diamond-shaped food web. The implications of intraspecific variation of a consumer in the intermediate level of a tritrophic food chain are explored for the case in which two different phenotypes exist within the consumer population having tradeoffs in traits with respect to foraging for resources and resisting predation. This intraspecific variation has implications for community dynamics. Traits such as skill at foraging and investment in anti-predator defense may vary among individuals within a species population. Alternative plant protection products such as this arabinoxylan polymer may be useful components in future integrated disease management strategies aimed at reducing fungicide inputs without any cost to disease control.

No yield penalties were associated with use of the polymer in any trial irrespective of the level of disease control. However, good levels of disease control were observed when the polymer was applied with a reduced fungicide programme. Control of powdery mildew, Rhynchosporium scald, and Ramularia leaf spot on barley was achieved with the polymer but control was inconsistent between trials. The effects of an arabinoxylan film-forming polymer derived from maize cell walls to control crop diseases of spring barley was assessed in field experiments. With the threat of certain plant protection products becoming ineffective due to reduced pathogen sensitivity to fungicides or through the removal of products due to changes in legislation, alternative compounds are sought for use in disease management programmes. The choice of thermal conductivity model has a noticeable impact on the plate-fin multi-stream heat exchanger design, and the maximum deviation by using different thermal conductivity models is 7.5%. For thermal conductivity, GERG model, with a maximum absolute deviation of 8.7% is preferred. This model is therefore recommended to be used.

The results show that for viscosity, the uncertainty range of Wilke's model is the smallest with a maximum absolute deviation of 6.1%. Recommendations were given on model selections and their impact on the design of plate-fin multi-stream heat exchanger were analyzed. In this paper, viscosity models and thermal conductivity models of CO 2 mixtures with non-condensable gas impurities were evaluated separately by comparison with existing experimental data. In addition, the differences in design of multi-stream heat exchanger by using different property models need to be studied as well. It is necessary to evaluate the reliabilities of viscosity and thermal conductivity models. Viscosity and thermal conductivity are key transport properties in the design of plate-fin multi-stream heat exchanger in CO 2 cryogenic processes.
